Once the food was ready we lined up to fill our plates with yams, mac & cheese, stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, and more. Everything was just delicious. Thank you so very much @cjrodney because all this would never have happened if not for her, she orchestrated, cooked, and planned the decorations. Much luv and respect. After the food, we started making Christmas tree crafts. She supplied the balls, markers and glitter markers for everyone to customize their own ornaments for the tree. It was magnificent. And then… Yes, there is more.. lol… We all bought secret santa Christmas presents to do a swap. Just lil something under $10, nothing serious. It was fun and we all had a good time. Cant wait for the next intimate gathering.
After Steph’s party I went to Kevin Powell’s Annual Clothing Drive down at Tribeca Cinemas. Totally different type of crowd but a much bigger venue with more people and various rooms. First room was a regular bar/club looking space with DJ Beverly Bond spinning on the one & two’s, drinks flowing at the bar, and attendees taking pictures at the step & repeat. Second room was the quote unquote Xbox room. Apparently, Xbox and SobeLife, along with others, were sponsors for the event and had a tv-video game set-up with free SobeLife Waters throughout the venue. Third room was the Live band / Art room with the guys in the back painting canvases and various groups performing throughout the night. It was amazing evening with cameos to fulfill the colossal event that Kevin orchestrated from DJ Beverly Bond, Diana Hilson of Black Enterprise to Beverly Smith of B. Smith.
Then on Saturday, hopped on the bus to Boston for my nephew’s 1st Bday, Brandon Mekhi Hill. 1st of all, at this point I am exhausted because not only was I out the night before til late, I was on the bus for about 4.5 hours, and then went straight to hall to help decorate with balloons, toys, and Mickey Mouse party bags full of candy and all sorts of toys. It was a slow start but the then the chaos of kids began. Kids running, screaming and throwing things everywhere. There needed to be some sort of organized game to calm the kids and let the parents take a break from yelling at each child about hitting or crying… lol.. So, of course I started playing Simon says, Musical chairs, and Red light Green light. The games were great and each winner got a present. The party was Mickey Mouse themed with Mickey balloons, party favors, and a huge Mickey cake. My lil nephew had a ball and we all were exhausted by the end of the evening. He got tons of toys and lots of love from everyone. I don’t get to see my family that often so I captured a bunch of pictures with my family & I. Enjoy!
I’ve mentioned earlier in the year that I purchased my condo in Harlem which means now I have a mortgage, condo fees, property insurance, and all these other bills that pile up. Being in one of the worst recessions in American history does not help the situation either. Therefore, the expense of dating is definitely at the bottom of the list of priorities when it comes to managing your tight budget.
People that know me knew I was good for great, exciting and different types of dates like getting U.S. Open tickets, Broadway shows, fun times at the batting cage, or dinner at a nice, romantic Cuban restaurant. However, things have change and the funds are not flowing like they used to.
As a result, I’ve had to come up with recession-proof ways to date so it would not dent the pockets as much. So I have listed 5 ways you can take your date out and have a good time on a budget.
1. Ice Skating. There’s nothing like taking spin around the ice skating ring out or inside in middle of winter. Just imagine… its night-time, holding hands, her falling cause she don’t really know how to skate. It’s the perfect date to set the mood and only cost you maybe $10 for rentals.
2. Take An Inexpensive Class. Depending on her interest and what you are willing to go through, you can take her to a cooking class, dance class, and/ or pottery class. If you research, sometimes these classes can be really cheap, and it’s a fun way to see how you guys interact with each other.
3. Off-Broadway Show. The shows that don’t necessarily make it to Broadway are definitely “for the win”. They are still entertaining, compelling, and loads cheaper. You get the same feel and comfort of a Broadway show without the Broadway money. No brainier.
4. Karaoke. Women love to laugh. So instead of taking her to the nice, romantic restaurant, take her to a karaoke spot where you can order a burger & fries or buffalo wings and a beer and your good to go. Not only will it be cheaper but you’ll probably have more fun.
5. Open Mic Poetry Slam. Forget about the U.S. Open tix or Wicked. Take her down the street to one of Brooklyn’s poetry slams, sit down, and enjoy the night. You don’t need all the extra excitement and expensive tickets to have a good time. Poetry slams are one of the best ways to experience art expression.

Powell is doing his Annual Holiday Clothing Drive at the Tribeca benefiting the
Safe Horizon Sreetwork Project, a program that assists approximately 10,000 nyc
homeless young people each year with temporary or permanent housing and other valuable
services. He has a huge host
committee over 120 people, slew of corporate sponsors including Xbox and
SmartWater, media partners like New York Post, and bunch of Event Production
partners. Definitely a good event
and your boy Chuckcity will be in the building.

More than 120 young professionals came together to flex their philanthropic muscles – and to dance the evening away – at United Way's Young Leaders Council First Annual Red Carpet Soiree at Tribeca Cinemas on Wednesday, May 14.
Guests packed the hip downtown venue to raise money for United Way's Focus Forward program, one of the only after-school programs in the city designed to help at-risk high school students accumulate credits toward graduation.
The event was emceed by Katherine Creag of
Fox 5's Good Day New York. In addition, the hosts of NYC 25 TV's Cool
in Your Code – Kenya Hunt, Christopher Kromer and Shirley Rumierk – made a
special appearance. A silent auction, plus an after-party at exclusive Marquee
nightclub, added to the excitement of the evening.
Holiday time is here people and you know what that means. To be perfectly honest, I’m not into the whole buying gifts and spending tons of money so retailers can profit and we stay broke and everyone parading around showing off what they got. However, I still love the holiday season for the parties, family time, Christmas music, and snuggle time with your winter boo. If you are in the mood of gift sharing and not exactly sure what to get your partner, friend, winter boo then here are a few ideas I came up with. Some are more expensive then others, but all great choices, and of course you can switch with personal preferences. I personally like Greedy Geniuses. *hint hint*
Men
1. Engraved Card Holder
2. TAG Heuer SRL
3. Football/ Basketball/ Any Sports Tickets
4. Playstation 3
5. Pair of Greedy Geniuses/ Prada’s / don’t matter as long as they fly
Women
1. Broadway Tickets
2. Spa Treatment
3. Diamond Earrings
4. Cashmere Sweater
5. Jimmy Choo
Though I totaly agree with the message, I'm quite sure I wouldn't want one of these as a Christmas gift.

I attended
the “Harlem for the Holidays Bazaar” at the Hip Hop Culture Center in the
Harlem Magic Johnson Theatre. The
place was so festive with an assortment of Harlem small business owners
including well established businesses such N Harlem, Tonni’s Minis, Hue Man
Bookstore, Make My Cake, Atomic Wings, Carol’s Daughters to emerging owners
like Sophisticated Funk, Hats by Bunn, Grandma’s Place, and others. I walked around and met & talked to
a lot of people. It was just a fun
and friendly space to be in, definitely Holiday festive. Made some connections for future events
and tried to get a couple of discounts but I don’t know if it worked out.
